The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced a range of senior-level job openings at its head office in Pretoria and regional offices across the country. Below are the available positions,along with their key details:
1. Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
- Location: Head Office – Pretoria
- Salary: R2,259,984 – R2,545,854 per annum, plus a 10% non-pensionable Head of Department Allowance
- Nature of Position: Five-year fixed-term contract
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership to enhance SASSA’s mandate in administering social security.
- Oversee the effective and efficient management of grant payments and social assistance programs.
- Act as the accounting officer for the agency, ensuring sound financial governance.
- Represent SASSA in government and public sector engagements.
- Lead corporate services, including human resources, financial planning, and compliance.
Minimum Requirements:
- A postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 8).
- Completion of the Senior Management Service (SMS) Pre-Entry Programme (Nyukela) endorsed by the National School of Government.
- 10 years of senior managerial experience, including 3 years within a public entity registered under the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
- Computer literacy and a valid driver’s license.

2. Regional Executive Managers (x5)
- Locations:

- Salary: R1,741,770 – R1,962,090 per annum
- Nature of Position: Permanent
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee regional grant administration and social security services in line with legislation.
- Implement policies, operational frameworks, and regional service delivery strategies.
- Ensure compliance with the SASSA Act, Public Finance Management Act, and governance policies.
- Enhance grant payment efficiency and fraud prevention measures in the region.
- Report on financial performance, corporate services, and strategic planning.
Minimum Requirements:
- A postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 8).
- Completion of the Senior Management Service (SMS) Pre-Entry Programme (Nyukela).
- 8 years of senior managerial experience.
- Strong financial, project management, and strategic planning skills.

3. Department Coordinator: Grants Operations

- Salary: R376,413 – R443,403 per annum
- Nature of Position: Permanent
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative and secretarial support to the grants operations team.
- Manage the documentation, filing system, and correspondence.
- Assist in budgeting, financial management, and procurement.
- Support internal management processes and reporting.
Minimum Requirements:
- A relevant undergraduate qualification (NQF Level 6/7).
- 2 – 3 years of administrative experience.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Computer literacy and a valid driver’s license.
